I know of one that somebody posted earlier in Ft. Carson. Are there any more in Colorado?

It should be noted that of the 5 in CS one is the Air Force Academy and one is NORAD. These two are not bases in the traditional sense but there is still a high concentration on military personel living in the area.

I'd have to say that homes move fairly well, especially true with Fort Carson growing from 15,000 to 25,000 active duty soldiers.

The five bases here are:
- Fort Carson
- Cheyenne Mountian
- Schreiber AFB
- Peterson AFB
- USAF Academy

All are on the south end of town, except for the Academy which is up here on the north end where I'm located.

In addition to all of the active duty military, there are a lot of civilian employees and corporate contractor personnel here to support the work that goes on at these five locations.

Any number of DoD and/or Federal agencies are found as tenants on these bases, such as NORAD, Homeland Defense, FEMA, etc.

Lots of USAF retirees live up here on the north end, as in some ways this is the "home" of the Air Force, as much as any airbase in the nation. Many of these retirees now work as contractors or civilian employees in support of the work at these bases.

I worked 30 years as an Army employee. Many Army folks retire here too for the climate and to be near a Fort they loved while in uniform. They like it here for the same reasons I do, discussed at length in "why choose colorado springs" in the Colorado Forum.

s/Mike
