People have an extreme prejudice against the plains, against "flat areas," "Kansas," even though Denver itself is built over the plains. However, the eastern plains account for almost 1/2 of the land area of this square-shaped state. Is there any scenery out there at all that's worth going to? Any interesting towns worth checking out? Anything to see or do?

What a great question! Colorado's eastern plains. Having grown up around trees, water and lots of houses, shopping and work places and people, we decided to make the split to the country, namely Colorado's farm and ranch land five years ago. It's a different feeling to see and almost touch the stars at nite, look in awe at the expanse of land under a hot summer or winter sun without trees or water ways, and marvel at the miracle of dryland farming and ranching. Take a drive out to the village of Hoyt, Colorado.
