I live in KY and work as a paramedic and planning to move to Colorado this winter. I really want to work in Salida but they aren't hiring at the moment. I'm willing to work anywhere in Colorado, I just like small town feel of Salida. Plus that area has great dirt bike, mountain bike and hiking trails. Any ideas of where to apply? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks so much
-Ben

The greater metro area is going to offer better employment opps....small towns are largely volunteer fire/ems departments with little financial incentive and not a large enough population to generate enough tax revenue from.

Salaried fire/ems jobs are highly contested here....expect thousands of applicants for any given opening. Cities are struggling with budgets lately, which equates to few job openings in public services. You might need to have a backup plan for a job while you play the waiting game here.

Your dirt biking options will continue to dwindle as the elitist, non-motorized contingent continues to push for trail closures to OHVs. The mountain bikers don't know it yet, but they're next on the list. Pretty soon the only option might be hiking.
