There is no central location; wildland training is typically a part of every CO department's training, and most departments have certified personnel who are always on call and ready to go when the need arises.

If you're talking specifically about jumpers, here's the USFS site. No jump crews stage out of CO, but that could change in a few years as the lodgepole forests continue to die off (??)

My son's roomate in Antarctica, lives in Colorado and jumps/repels from helicopters for firefighting. I think it's called Helitack or something like that.
I'm thinking he's in Monument....I'll ask when he calls me again.
My son says he is the most positive and happiest person he has ever met!

There are always seasonal jobs with the USFS. They start taking apps in early 2010 and will have crews hired by the middle of Feb or March.

Also, the are many contractors that have Type 6 engine crews or hand crews that will hire seasonally. You can also contact some of the local counties; Archuleta County in SW Colorado always hires in late spring for hand crews.

He usually calls me on Tuesday or Thursday...which is actually Monday or Wednesday for us here in Colorado!! Very confusing!! They are a day ahead minus 5 hours >>>>Too bad he can't tell us the lottery numbers!!HA!!
I will let you know everything he tells me. Including openings.
My cousins son is a fireman in Dillon Colorado. I can't imagine there would be too much "action" there...just tons of nice scenery!!

I have 1 son in the coldest, windiest, driest place on the planet..then, 1 son in the hottest place....neither one I can visit!HMMM! I HOPE they aren't trying to tell me something!!!! DRAT!
