I've been to the DMV web site and am ready to jump through all the hoops to register my car here. ON the web site they say:

Vehicles titled for the first time in Colorado must be accompanied by one of the following documents to certify the weight:
o
Manufacturer's Statement of Origin
o
Valid registration or title which specifies the weight
o

A certified weight slip

My current title and registration from PA don't have the weight of the car. Anybody know how I obtain one of the above?

I would call the DMV and ask about this. I registered a vehicle that had been previously registered out of state and wasn't aware of this and wasn't asked about anything to prove the weight (although it might be possible that the weight was listed on my CA registration). Sorry this isn't of much help, but I'm sure somebody at the DMV can answer the question.

I read all the info about the hoops an out of state person had to jump through to get a Colorado DL and car tags. After a week of living here, I walked into my local DMV office, handed over my Arkansas DL showed them my Social Security Card, gave them my new address and $21.00 and got my new DL. Local town marshal gave me my VIN check, drove to the county courthouse, handed over my Arkansas registration, VIN check form, showed my new Colorado DL and Insurance card and was asked what kind of plate I wanted. Paid the registration fee and walked out with my Colorado car tags. Easy easy easy.

Just got back from Jeffco DMV. I called first. They said a weight statement wasn't necessary for standard cars. Their web site needs work. It definitely makes everything more complicated than need be.

First, drove 16 miles round trip to the emissions station. Spent about 45 minutes there. Seems to me I created more emissions getting this tested than not Also, seems to me a safety inspection (brakes, lights, tires) as was done in PA is more important than emissions, but they don't do that here. Interesting that one company does this inspection, as opposed to every local service station, as was the case in PA. Someone must have gotten a whopper of a campaign contribution for this coup.

Next, drove to the local DMV office. Not too long a wait and people more pleasant than at the licensing center. Paid ~$400 for the 2 cars - considerably more than the $24/car in PA. Ouch. At least I'm done for a year.
