Can someone explain what a lagoon septic system is? (septic system drains into lagoon). I am not familiar with this. thanks

Are you talking about a house that has an existing septic tank that drains into a lagoon? Is it permitted? I know that some small towns have lagoons that treat the town's wastewater, but they are regulated and inspected regularly. Even then you don't want to live close by because there still is a bad smell. I can't imagine anyone having a lagoon that's part of a septic system for a single house, but maybe that's how they do it in sw Colorado.....
