Any Companies Hiring Engineering Grads? (Denver, Colorado Springs: transfer, university, living in)

Hi guys,

Wanted to know if anyone could suggest some companies to look at that could be hiring for entry level engineering positions. I have a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (09') from the University of Michigan. I currently live in Northern California and I'm looking to move to the Colorado (Denver or Colorado springs areas) sometime next year. My girlfriend and I have decided that the SF Bay Area is not where we want to live and raise kids in the future.

I currently have a crap retail job and am desperate to get some engineering experience. Would the fact that I am a Marine Corps veteran help my chances with all the military presence in the area?

Here's some practical advice: Get hired by a firm anywhere that needs an engineer, preferably a large one that has offices where you want to live. After you've been there a while and gained some experience see if you can transfer internally to your target location. There are many more jobs available internally than externally in most large companies. A job in your field is more important than location right now.

If you have a security clearance then you stand a good chance in the Colorado Springs area.

I doubt someone in retail is going to have a security clearance. To get one, a company has to hire and then sponsor you, first for an interim and then a final clearance. Again, refer to my "practical advice" above.

Someone who was a Marine may have a clearance, active or re-instatable. Pay more attention to the original post.

Those 3 combos: BSME, University of Michigan, and Marine Corps veteran are excellent credentials for Colorado IMO. Knowing Solidworks is a 4th, I sent you a PM. Good luck.

The problem is the economy, so you can't take it personally. It's just the way it is.

If you're computer savvy, put a Computer Services ad in the paper/craigslist. You'll get some work out of that. It won't be much but it'll get you doing some technical stuff.

If you're not committed to living in Colorado, take a look at the D.C./Northern Virginia area which always has jobs available even during rough economic times. Not the best place to live, but at least you'll get employed in the field you want.

have you tried lockheed martin? they're generally hiring internally, but they do have entry level positions and like retired military. they're all over denver metro, boulder, colorado springs.
