Thanks everyone for your comments on Hotchkiss! I am trying to get a part time job at the post office to sustain my bills and I have a bag of cash from a house sale prior in Idaho. I think the area looks very diverse with lots of outdoor recreation. Janva

I've only driven through Hotchkiss once (mid-2006) and the place looked almost deserted then.

Here's a link to some photos of Hotchkiss on Flickr.com:

Hotchkiss is, indeed, a hidden gem in the North Fork Valley of Delta County, and nicely centrally located between equally interesting small towns of Paonia, home of the local public radio station,
KVNF (KVNF - Mountain Grown Public Radio for Western Colorado),

and Crawford, home of Joe Cocker (The Official Site of Joe Cocker).

Wikipedia has a considerable amount of information at Hotchkiss, Colorado - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Check out the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce for some general area photos and more info at Delta Area Chamber of Commerce.
