We are just about getting ready to finally retire. We have been everywhere we would consider moving to for retirement. I am still thinking Idaho but my husband really is having serious thoughts about Cedaredge. We visited Cedaredge this past September and he can't seem to get it out of his mind.

My questions are concerning cost of living in Cedaredge regarding utilities, taxes, etc. I am also concerned about medical and the availability of doctors accepting new Medicare patients. Does Colorado and this area in particular have Medicare Advantage programs that most doctors will accept? Is it going to be a challenge to find a doctor to accept our coverage? We do have relatives in the Grand Junction area, would they have any persuasion with their own physicians regarding taking us under Medicare as new patients?

Also, since fishing is a passion especially for my husband, where are the best fishing areas within an hour of Cedaredge. I already know about all the little lakes on the Grand Mesa and all their mosquitoes as well up there.

Thanks for any additional insight you might provide us.

My sister lived there for years before she moved to Delta. My understanding is there is a lot of your typical small town infighting and politics. There's an outlaw motorcycle gang that lives just outside of town but they don't seem to bother anyone. A nice golf course, and a very nice old town museum area. The town park is beautiful. They have an Apple Festival every fall that brings thousands to town, pretty fun. I think it's a pretty town, and a good place to go for walks. Cedaredge was one of my choices to move to when I retired. Here's some info:

Thanks for the information. I appreciate your taking time to respond.

Since I wrote this post I have been doing more research on Cedaredge and actually Colorado. Over the years we have been to Colorado more times then I can count. While Colorado is a beautiful state where so many very nice people live my husband and I have finally narrowed down our decision to retiring in Idaho. I think dollar for dollar for a retiree and moving from our area, Idaho is more cost effective and also has all of what we are looking for.

Best stream fishing within an hour of Cedaredge:
(1) Gunnison river where the north fork and the main river come together. The area is called "Pleasure Park."

There's a multitude of lakes around, but I wouldn't call the fishing "good."
