Default Another moving question...

Sorry for the repeat of the question.

My husband has just been promoted and we are moving from GA to CO. He needs to be near Denver, but not IN Denver. We are looking at a few areas, Golden, Castle Rock, and Littleton. We'll be making a trip in the next few weeks/months to check out the areas and plan to be moved out there by September. We love the outdoors - hiking, fishing, biking, etc. No kids yet, but we do have a super cool dog.

How is the job market in the areas that we are considering? Also, I know that all towns have the "bad" side of town, can anyone tell me what areas we should avoid in Golden, Castle Rock and Littleton?

We're really looking forwad to the move out there. We spent a week last summer for vacation in Gunnison, but had no idea that a year later we would be moving to CO.

Any advice that anyone has is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I assume you are talking about the job market for you. It would help to know what kind of work you do. Denver is a magnet for young people, so the job market is more competitive than some places. I don't know how it compares to GA.

RE: bad parts of towns; I think you'll know them when you see them.

Castle Rock and much of Douglas County is very upscale. Douglas County has one of the highest median home values in the U.S. Expect $300K+ minimum in Castle Rock itself.

Littleton is a mix. A lot of suburbia (which I personally don't like), some older suburban and in-town areas, and a few sort of seedier spots (though not many).

Golden is the closest thing to a small-town feel in the metro Denver area, in my opinion. The core part of Golden is physically separated from the rest of the metro area by North and South Table mountains (I just posted on Golden elsewhere on this forum, so I won't repeat). Golden is not very cheap, either--probably a minimum of $250K+ for any decent single-family house in town.
