This isn't a job forum, nor should it be. But off and on there have been threads about the job situation and I have contributed my thoughts to these threads, so I'll go ahead and mention the following:

A colleague of mine has quit his Unix system administrator job to take a job in California. If anyone is interested in being a candidate to fill this vacancy, direct message me offline and I'll describe the location, the job, and answer questions you may have. A brief general description is as follows:

Location: this would be located in a very small, isolated town out in the "middle of nowhere" (it's not Grand Junction)
Job description: This is a typical Unix sa job. You would be expected to have at least a few years of SA work on your resume. In order to perform the job, you would need to be experienced in running small/medium sized networks with Linux and Windows servers. You would need to have the skills to configure server software, network protocols, user accounts, clients applications, etc. You would need to be able and willing to troubleshoot and fix problems even outside 8a-5p. You would be one of the primary points of contact for this stuff.

Let me tell you right now, it's a lot of work, you will be supporting a large user base and a lot of the responsibility falls on your shoulders.

If that's something anyone is interested in, message me.

No takers? I'm suprised. Over the past year, a number of IT people on the Colorado forum have complained about being out of work or have expressed their interest in obtaining IT work in this area.

Just so you know, this is a legitimate job. In fact, it's a very stable job. The friend of mine who quit was in that job for five years.

Place the announcement on a Scientology forum and I'm sure people will respond.

If it were GJ, (or anywhere west slope) I'd be interested - although I'm more of a windows server admin than Unix...

Sorry it's not on the western slope. Unix is the biggest chunk of it, but Windows plays a crucial role as well

Posting the location (even if its not exactly specific) might increase the level of interest.
