True - it's always a bad few that cause bad reputations. Here in Atlanta right after hurricane Katrina, we probably had 30,000 people from New Orleans relocate into this area. Not a huge deal in an area of 4.2 million - that is a small amount to us.

However, immedately, there was a noticeable jump in crimes, especially drug related, car jackings, shootings, etc. Each time they would catch one of these guys, the media would be sure to report that they were an evacuee from New Orleans (based on their I.D.s)... so eventually you started seeing a pretty big anti-New Orleans attitude among some people here. A "go back NOW" feeling. Truth be told, most of the victims were just that - victims of a horrible disaster - but the few criminals among them degraded an area to the point that ALL of them get blamed for it.

Same thing with Californians moving to Denver I would assume, via different circumstances of course. A few of them bring bad habits with them and poof - they all get the bum rap for it.

Being a southern CA resident my whole life we kinda have the same feeling about people from Arizona. We call them Zonies, they walk around the boardwalk wearing socks with their sandals, and yes they put a big blob of sun screen on their nose. But I wouldn’t say we "hate" zonies because they are normally only visiting but we do poke fun at them.

I agree with everything said about people from CA. I too want to move out of CA for many of those reasons. People in CA are snobs, they are horrible drivers, rude drivers, and they think everyone is below them. To name a few more there is way to much traffic, it takes me 1 hour to get work which is ~15 miles away, everything is WAY overpriced, and the state and local (San Diego) government is F'ed up beyond all belief.
