Default Pueblo West and area/help

We are currently living in central Texas and can no longer stand the humidity and out of control property taxes.

We are thinking of Colorado. One of the most affordable areas we have found is Pueblo and surrounding areas.

We are looking for a new home is a quiet area with access to some shopping etc. We are looking in the $140 to $150,000 price range.

I would appreciate any info input web sites you might have.

Thanks

If you are looking to live in a small city and don't mind NOT having a lot of amenities - Pueblo has potential. I have lived in Trinidad for 10 years and drive to Pueblo almost every week to go to Hopscotch Bakery and Vitamin Cottage for some excellent baked goods and supplies. Pueblo has a fairly newly developed riverfront area that is right in downtown and will grow in the next 10 years. We have neighbors that bought a historic Victorian house right in the downtown area and they just love it. Pretty reasonable prices. BUT like everything in Colorado it is getting more expensive. Pueblo West is the suburbs with new developments and housing (reasonable), but it can get quite hot and has a very desert like feel. If you're from Texas you might not mind. DRY DRY DRY. Canon City is close by and is much greener as is Beulah, but Canon City houses the states prison system and Beulah has big time water problems. You might check out the Trinidad area and depending on how you make a living or if you have children - it could work too.
Good Luck in your search!
