Where are the hippie towns in Colorado or best liberal towns? I like small rural towns but only if they are driving distance from a larger shopping/medical area. Thanks. I am in California and thinking of retiring over there, because my friend moved to Wyoming and I don't want to live in Wyoming.

Medical marijuana shops have sprung up all over town here in Grand Junction, but Grand Junction is a far cry from being a hippie town or a liberal hotbed. Compared to most of California, most of Colorado is more conservative, though many of us are independents with no party affiliations.

You would be very surprised at how much of California is conservative!! Just about all of it except San Francisco these days. (Maybe San Diego too).

Try Crestone, CO. In addition to being more liberal and artsy, there is a nearby clothing optional hot springs.
