Ultimately, we the voters have only ourselves to blame when we vote back into office any politician who does not carry out our will.

Default Beware of Fear Mongers Spreading Bogus Information on this thread!

As history reveals the world is full of fear mongers and only spread fear and misinformation for reasons that they think alleviate their own feeling of inadequacy. One area of constant information manipulation is Water Resources and how this vital resource is allocated and transferred.

For thousands of years, humans have fought over water rights and it is no different with regards to the animal kingdom!

However, when an inquisitive mind looks clearly at Colorado and for the most part the United States, one has to wonder why do supposably reasonable people would want to thwart the abundant water resources we have throughout the state of Colorado!

One point in particular is the Ogallala aquifer of which maybe on 5-10% sets underneath Colorado. This is one of the world's largest aquifer systems and it encompasses portions of eight states including South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas. This is no less than 175K square miles! And because of the Ogallala aquifer those who reside on it can depend upon wells delivering anywhere from a few gallons per minute to over a One Thousand Gallon per minute rate. We are taking about billions of acre feet spread around these states. Now this is only one major aquifer. When you take this aquifer and add the other vast water aqufers we have west of the Mississippi one must question why Water Districts and their cronies have to CRY WOLF!!!!!!!!

Well my friends, like MtnFlyer has said, all you have to do is follow the money! And yes, when it comes to water availablity this is certainly all about money, as these egregious 503B non profits are hiding the truth from you only to rake in year after year truck loads of cash! Yes, many of these Water Districts are just that! Cash Cows for the Elite! All you have to do is go see how much their board member pull in a year from basic salary and benefits plus all the money these elitists get from sitting on other boards!

Many of these board members you will see in Jackson Hole, Vale and Aspen enjoying the good life while working people have to subject themselves to the fear of drought and other disgusting bogus claims put forth by their cronies!

So lastely fellow forum members, I encourage all of you to boycott threads like this which only serve to further the lie of elitists who sit back and enjoy the good life while you stress about your water rights!

Who stresses? This is just a fun debate but I know Pueblo has plenty of water and come this summer my lawn will be green and my flowers colorful.

Your encouragement falls on deaf ears with me. I enjoy hearing both sides of the story.....even the side I disagree with. One of the reasons I visit the forums is for the discussion of opposing viewpoints. If you want an outlet where everyone agrees with everyoe else, listen to Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly and become one of their sheeple!

I agree with you 100% although I do listen to O Reilly and Rush Limbaugh at times as listening to people I disagree with actually makes me think more then listening to people I agree with all the time. But that is a little off topic lol

More worthless BS! I guess you haven't been to the panhandle of Texas and observed how many farms irrigated out of the Ogallala Aquifer have now gone back to dryland farming because the water table of the Ogallala has dropped so much that pumping for irrigation is no longer economically feasible there. That isn't some pipe dream by some "water district"--it's just pure FACT! Apparently, you can't be bothered with those.

I'm getting really sick of debating with someone who apparently is in complete denial about the water situation in this region, and who--from everything I can tell--has never personally observed the water situation here. About like wrestling with a pig--you're gonna get dirty, and you figure out that the pig is enjoying it!

Clearly it's all just a conspiracy to keep the common suburbanite / city dweller down

Or maybe we should ask the scientists, farmers, hydrologists, geologists, urban planners.....

I guess Pueblo is lucky to be the big dog in the lowest part of the state and was able to secure ample supply for its population, though that might have a negative effect on those being muscled out of their water from lack of financial competitiveness. Where I am in CO, water seems to be a bigger deal, mostly intermittant streams or relatively small aquifers, during the longer droughts you get down to the sulfurous water at the bottom of the tower sometimes.

Agreed Pueblo was and continues to be lucky and I understand not every city in Colorado has the same amount of water supply that Pueblo has.
