There is plenty of suburbia all the way to Highlands Ranch in Douglas County. There is a bit of open land between there and Castle Rock. It is not too far from CR to the northern fringes of COS. There's not a lot of development between COS and Pueblo. I could have phrased that better.

But it is not 30 miles of open land. From Monument south to CS is built up. Take a look at Google maps.
