Hello, we will be spending a few days in the Pueblo area at the end of May/beginning of June. I was looking at the weather out there for this week, and it was a bit higher than I expected it to be. Hitting the 90's this week! Is this a fluke, are you having a warm year? How should one dress for the beginning of June? We'll be outside almost the entire time. Thanks

As for weather in Colorado, I don't think there is any such thing as a fluke. What may appear flukey in other places is par for the course in Colorado. Weather that is typical for a certain day of the year can occur on ANY day of the year.

90's can happen when you will be here but it will cool off at night to the 50's and 60's. So I would take the cloths that make you the most comfortable in that kind of weather.

Earlier this week I shoveled 8" of snow in Golden (130 miles north, roughly the same elevation).

Thanks

I wouldn't go quite that far. The odds of you seeing snow in Pueblo in late May/early June are slim-to-none. I'd pack some jeans and a light jacket for your "warm" clothes.

Southeastern Colorado is typically the hottest spot in the state. Their weather is affected by the Bermuda High that causes a large swath of Texas to be a blast furnace in the summer. 90s and even low 100s in June are not out of the question. The good news is that the humidity is very low so the temperature will drop quickly after sundown.

I can deal with that. I prefer mild summers, but at least it's dry.

Yeah, our summers are fairly mild, though of course it depends on the comparison. Golden is much more prone to cold jet streams, and the only way we get snow this time of year is a cold northern jet stream. Pueblo should be removed from a great deal of that influence. 90s for them at the end of May is not that unusual. The averages are low 80s so having days that are low 90s or low 70s would be very possible for this time of year. Our temperatures fluctuate dramatically more than most cities in the country. Pueblo tends to be slightly warmer than Denver, which is slightly warmer than Colorado Springs. Therefore, Pueblo's weather tends to be nicer for 7 to 8 months out of the year -- those being the "not summer" months.
