Cool people

Max drive from Aspen would be about 45 mins

Aspen is pretty remote.

I'd check out Glenwood Springs.

How did you come up with your screen name? The Extra is one of my favorite planes.

Aspen is isolated. There is only one real road in and out in the winter time. Your options are the Snowmass resort, Carbondale/Basalt and Glenwood Springs.

If you want all of those things, I'd suggest you stay IN Aspen. If you're trying to save money, I'd check out Snowmass...any further and it's not worth the drive, especially if you want to go out late. If you aren't skiing, I'd wait until ski season is over. The prices drop at least 50%.

thanks for the replies...

I tried Glenwood Springs.. It is ok, but probably would have been better off just ignoring all of the pretentious people in Aspen and staying there.

Motoracer.. I picked the screen name, because I owned an Extra300L for a few years and loved it.. Awesome plane!! I will probably look to get another one in the near future..

Sweet!! If I ever win the lottery, and Extra would be on the list.

Actually, Extra is supposed to be building a manufacturing plant here on the western slope. Not sure if 300's will be made there though.

Been flying with my buddy that owns a 182 - that will have to suffice for now.

If you make it to Glenwood Springs - check out the Hotel Colorado. Some cool history there.

Minturn is a neat town to hang out. In the summer take the back road to Crested Butte for a fun weekend or if you're willing to drive further Telluride, Ouray or Steamboat.
