Hello - I'm looking to take my boyfriend on an overnight winery excursion for his birthday in August. Do you have any suggestions for a) a good Colorado winery and b)a bed and breakfast near said winery. We live in Denver, but will travel for the experience. Thanks in advance!!

There are many wineries on the western slope; IIRC over by Grand Junction. Google that and you'll probably hit the jackpot. AAA Travel used to run a wine train (on Amtrak) out of Denver, overnighter, with a return trip by bus.

Palisade is the place to go for wineries and B&Bs.

Here in Canon City is the Royal Gorge Route....there are all kinds of packages that include,....wine tasting, the train trip, bed and breakfast, touring of the Abbey Winery....etc. Just google it and you can see the different packages available....even a Murder Mystery train ride where you can be involved!!!!

My wife and I spent a few nights at Vistas and Vineyards BB in Palisades when we were considering a move to the Grand Junction area 4 summers ago. We live in Grand Junction now and we have become good friends with the owners. I highly recommend it.

Wine Country Inn in Palisades is a very nice, newer hotel with their own winery. The room we stayed in was luxurious. If you go on Expedia you can find cheaper rates.

If you're booking online, make sure not to misspell the name or you could be in for a surprise when you find out that your hotel room is an 40 miles north of NYC.

Down at Palisades Park is an old Freddy Cannon song. I think the spelling ( Palisades ) got stuck in my head from listening to that song when I was a kid.
We ate and ate at a hot dog stand,
We danced around to a rockin' band;
And when I could,
I gave that girl a hug, in the tunnel of love

You'll never know how great a kiss can feel,
When you've stopped at the top of the ferris wheel,
Where I fell in love,
Down at Palisades Park.
