I used to live in Meeker and I loved it. My kids loved it when we lived there. I go back to visit from time to time, to see old friends and enjoy the small town atmosphere. If my husband and I could find work there we could consider moving back.

Hi Ellene,
Thank you for the info. I am looking forward to a beautiful summer here and will definitely be going to the concerts and farmers market.
I am wanting to stop by the chamber and say hello as Dee was so helpful to me in learning about the area and finding a place to live. I look forward to meeting you all.

Hi 80skeys and bg3971,
I am truly enjoying the small town life here in Meeker. It is definitely a big adjustment but the people here are so friendly and helpful it has been a nice transition. We are now experiencing beautiful warm sunny weather and everything is turning a lush green. I am a home body so the small town works for me. We have to drive about 50 miles north to Craig for the closest Walmart, a variety of restaurants, and other shopping. For a bigger city Grand Junction is about 2 hours to the south. The good news is that either way the drive is beautiful. We also have Glenwood Springs about 70 miles away which has good shopping and restaurants and is a gorgeous area. I am happy I made the move and look forward to meeting you if you come. Are you coming for work? If so, where?

Meeker is approximately 2500 people which supports a grocery store, half a dozen restaurants, two hardware stores, some retail down on the town square, a good rec center and one traffic light that only blinks. I moved from Denver to here six years ago and made the transition by adjusting my attitude. It involved "letting go" of the big city amenities and embracing the rural life. Otherwise you will pine away for a Starbucks and other familiar conveniences and not enjoy what you do have...peaceful hometown charm.

Let us know how it goes...

Also, is there backcountry skiing accessible in the Flat Tops from the Meeker side? I don't mean x-c, I mean climbing up the mtns and skiing down them. And what about rock-climbing?

Thanks.
