I see where KIIQ-FM 93.7 which is licensed to Limon has an Applicaiton to change it's licensed facilities from 1KW with antenna -32 meters above average terrain to 100,000 Watts at 205 Meters above average terrtain, which would make it a Denver rimshot signal at that point.
KLIM-AM 1120 also has a Construction Permit to go from 250 Watts off one tower to 17,000 Watts Day and Single Digit Night power, off 3 towers. The day signal would be very listenable in the Denver market.
KAVD 103.1 is licensed to Limon but doesn't serve it. there is an Applicaiton for a 2000 Watt Non Comemrcial religious station on 89.1 and a 28,000 Watt Commercial station on 92.3, all proposing Limon as a city of License but will probably move elsewhere before long to get closer to Denver.
Kinda looks like Limon may be losing it's only two radio stations and none of these new stations will do a damn thing for the town.
Sad.

I can remember going through that area and the choices for radio stations are sparse and is like parts of central and western South Dakota. It is sad that Limon would be losing its two stations. Many times, smaller towns such as Limon ingored and overlooked.
Limon is similar in size to the town that I live in South Dakota and should have the basics such as a grocery store, ALCO, several gas stations, several eating places, hardware store, and it has good interstate access. There are many towns in this region and the Great Plains that are more isolated than Limon with its 1 to 1 and 1/2 hour drive to either Denver metro or Colorado Springs metro for additional services.
To me, the town is laid-back (which is not a bad thing) and has its own charm to it. It is similar in character to towns of its size in western parts of Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota. I would take the originality of small towns such as Limon over the cookie-cutter look of the larger cities.

The AM station would probably still serveLimon, as minimally as possible till it could move it's studio. You see, FCC requires a studio within 25 miles of your city of License.
So, until they could change the City of License to something closer to Denver, it'd stay in Limon and do as little as possible.
Same with 93.7 and 92.3 if either upgrade/license is ever granted to increase power.
And yes, it's sad that stuff like this happens. I'm a small town broadcaster and hate to see towns robbed of their raido voice.
Now mind you, I odn't know much, if anything at all about 93.7 or 1120 in terms of on air status over the last 5 years or their programming so I can't say much.. but SOMETHING is better then nothing.

What does 93.7 and 92.3 FM play in Limon? Just curious. I like listening to classic rock such as Eagles, Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, etc. I will have to keep it it mind if I go through Limon. In the past five or so years, I have been taking E-470 around Denver and went the Brush-Limon way to Colorado once (last spring).

I have NO earthly idea.
92.3 is just an application for a 25,000 Watt Commercial station and Im noty too sure what 93.7 plays or if 1120 is even on the air.

I grew up in Limon and moved back for about a year and a half after college. I loved the area and living there. 56k in Limon is a very good salary out there even as the single provider in the house hold. I have looked at purchasing a house out there and they arent bad prices. They do have a bowling alley, movie theater and swimming pool. They also have a fishing pond that is alot of fun to fish at. you can usually catch a couple of fish each time you go. Growing up there I was actively involved in sports during the school year as well as during the summer.

2071 population. Couple intermittent streams nearby. Limon heritage mus & railroad park. The hub of a wagon wheel, alot of raods radiating out from it. Plus, you could always head a bit shoutwest to Kutch for your entertainment dollar.
