You can always check out Telluride. Expensive and getting more exclusive, but absolutely drop-dead gorgeous destination town -- has it's own airport. Lots of stores (big and small) beatiful seasons -- especially fall. Lots of snow, though. But, in Colorado you get 320 days of sun a year so even after you get a big dump of snow, the sun comes out and it's beautiful!! Good luck.

My family are planning to move to Ouray. Job market is tourist based; however. Been to Vermont, going again this September, LOVE IT! But you might like the Ouray feel. They call themselves the "Switzerland of America" - I don't quite get that (been there, too) - but the quite, mtn breezes and Aspen leaves might take you back a little. Steamboat is the largest mountian town and has a very quiant downtown, it's more Western, then New England. And can sustain you year 'round. For that matter you might like Glenwood Springs, too.
Good Luck
