Default There are lakes to swim in around Denver

There are lakes to swim in around Denver. I'm aware of Cherry Creak Reservoir, Chatfield Dam and Bear Creek Lake. I'm sure that there are others as well. The water is very cold in June but by July and August its comfortable.

These are small compared to Lake Travis in Austin, but there is swimming and sandy beaches.

Default Great Swimming Hole

native_kh: not sure if this is the one modette referred to but it's a great swimming hole near Guffey called Paradise Cove.

See the guy jumping from the cliff into the pool (he's at the top in white shorts). He did it -- the hole is that deep.

Clear Creek has some swimming holes in nearby Golden and in the foothills. Easier in late summer as spring and early summer the water is too swift. Boulder Creek is nice as well, especially for tubing. Most watering holes without fast moving water are pretty nasty IMO including the ones around Austin.

You come here for the skiing, not the swimming. The only "water hole" I remember going to was back in high school up near Deckers. A long dusty dirt road drive but pretty sweet swimming. Confluence Park is to be avoided unless you really like swimming in contaminants. I've never said anything to the families in the water there because the only possible reply they could give me would be "huh?"

Sorry if this all comes as bad news to you but it's just not a swimming destination here.
