Hey-Odd is on a distinguished road
Default Pre-Kindergarten in CO?

Hi -- we're moving to the Boulder area (Longmont or Louisville, most likely) this summer from a Northern Atlanta suburb (Suwanee). My husband is transferring to his company's Superior office, and we're pretty thrilled to have this opportunity. There are several things I'll miss about Georgia (and several I won't!!) -- one of which is this state's fantastic, state-funded pre-Kindergarten program. My older son just finished his pre-K year, and my younger son will be four this October. I hate to have my younger son miss pre-K here, but this relocation opportunity has presented itself and we're jumping.

So, can anyone tell me anything about a pre-K program in Colorado? I've searched the Board of Education web sites and have found references to pre-K, preschool, etc, but nothing that says here's what what we have, here's how it works, etc.

I've gotten much better info from reading other posts on this forum that I have from other "official" web sites. For instance, I'll probably lean more toward the Boulder Valley school district rather than St. Vrain now because of things I've read here.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer!

The pre-K programs are pretty much all private, except for Head Start. There are a few exceptions, such as special ed, etc, but nothing publicly funded for the 'average' kid.
