I have a job offer and looking to move to the area. I've lived in other parts of northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado, so I am familiar with the cultural aspects and economic depression of the area but I need to know about the water situation, as the cheap price of land is one of the main reasons that we are headed in that direction. Some of the parcels for sale say that they have wells, but I am wondering how you know how viable the wells are and if they tend to go dry... Also is the water table really deep out there? I used to live in taos and I am familiar with how crippling the water rights issue can be to a new property owner. I would appreciate any input.
