We're coming down (from Chicago) to visit the area and check it out. I've tentatively rented a cottage on Lake Murray on Crockett Road right at the lake. I liked the location since it's close to Lexington and still quite convenient to Columbia.
Is this area safe?
Also, are there any "must eat at" restaurants in the area? We like all types of cuisines but want to experience stuff unique to your area.
Safe? About the only thing you will have to worry about are raccoons getting in the trash.
Alodia's for Italian and Palmetto Pig for BBQ should not be missed although you will have to cross the dam to get to the best BBQ in the area that is served at Hudson's. And take the time to walk across the dam one evening. It is a pleasant distraction.
