Columbia Info Please.
It is very likley my husband's company will be moving him to Columbia! I am both excited and nervous. We are comming from the suburbs of Chicago, so this will be a huge change. We also have a 2 year old, so I am looking for info on things I can do with my daughter. Also, any other info you can give...His office will be in the 29210-4424 zip code. What are some of the best areas to live in, weather, winters, Do hurricanes ever hit the far in?, school info, the people, anything!!!!!

Google maps says your husband's office is in the St. Andrews Rd. area, so you're close to both Irmo and Lexington. Both those areas have good schools to choose from. You could look at Spring Valley (northeast Columbia area) or Arcadia Lakes, but you'd have to cross town every day.
You don't really have to worry about Hurricanes. Any closer to the ocean, and you're increasing your risk. But it would take a really major storm to damage Columbia.
Summers are very hot. Columbia is summertime hot from about May until early September. If I were you, I would do everything possible to get access to a lake or swimming pool. Fall and Spring have great weather, and the winters aren't too cold. Doesn't snow much, ices sometimes.
there are tons of threads about this if you look around.
good luck.

There really aren't a lot of threads with a lot of info on this area. I went back and read every post as far back as possible.

I just got back from the area and loved it. Now it's just a matter of selling the house and off we go!
