Default relocating

My husband and I are relocating to Columbia. We will both be teaching in the 29209 area code. Is this a relatively safe place to live? What are some places in Columbia to stay away from? We are looking for a rental home that has a fenced in back yard (we have two dogs that like to play outside), so if anyone has a rental or knows someone who does I would appreciate the information.

There are some nice parts and not so nice parts in that zip code. If you have a monthly rental price range in mind I could recommend some neighborhoods for you.

The nices areas in a reasonable price range are south of Garners Ferry Rd and west of Pineview Rd. The areas north of Garners Ferry and northwest of Leesburg Rd would be my second choice. I'm not as familiar with the area southeast of Leesburg Rd out toward Lower Richland Blvd.

Default Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the information. We wanted to go fairly cheap, but I suppose that would put us in an unsafe neighborhood? The highest rent we would like to pay is $800.

You can find a fairly nice home to rent for that amount. I'll reiterate what GoPadge said, plus add there are a couple of nice neighborhoods on the north side of Leesburg Road - they are the first 2 neighborhoods on the north side of Leesburg just east of the I-77 interchange before you get to Greenlawn Drive. If you want a townhome there are some nice looking ones that I noticed off I-77 just south of Garners Ferry Road.

Lightbulb House for Rent in SE

Hi there,

I have a past client who has a home they're renting, but I think it will be well over $1,000 per month. House is one to two years old, 3 BR, 2 BA with fireplace, bonus room on a corner lot and a two car garage (an amazing place). I don't know if that will help you, but thought I'd mention it.
