Default NYE in Sumter?

Anyone know of any family-friendly events going on in/around Sutmer for New Year's Eve? I thought maybe I'd try taking my (10 year old) daughter out that evening, instead of adhering to my super-lame tradition of going to bed at 10pm...

i highly doubt there is anything worth attending. Check Columbia events. if nothing is found light off fireworks, have a movie marathon, invite friends over...etc. I doubt she'll care too much as long as she gets to stay up to ring in the new year.

Yeah not aware of much going on except in Columbia.. I am surprised that Sumter doesnt do a "First Night" like many other cities.. They have had some success with Swan Lake and Sumter @ Six.. that it seems like they could plan an event.. in/around the Opera House and let folks come down... I guess they could also launch fireworks around Swan Lake.. but I guess that would scare the swans

Well, now my daughter is gonna be out of town that evening so I'm trying to decide if I still want to find something fun to get into or just revert back to my pattern of going to bed early.

My concern with attending an event in Cola is that, once it's over, I'll have to drive an hour back to my home. Being up several hours past my usual bedtime would make that drive a sleepy (and, thus, dangerous) one...
