Canalside to start construction on Phase II in spring, adding 200 units
Company officials say they are pleased with where they are now in terms of absorption and will add a mix of town homes and small apartments.

Pleased with absorption rates? They'd better check their math because we're already have an oversupply of housing and they keep building.

They are pleased with their absorption rate. I guess it's true that people are choosing to move back to the city.

Yahoo! Here's hoping this means a surplus of rural land, bringing the cost per acre down about 90% to a more reasonable rate...

The Rendering looks pretty nice to me. And the more people living downtown the better for more devleopment in the Vista. I'd really like to see that empty spot on Lady in front of the parking garage that at one time was going to be a two story retail plaza get built.

When we were thinking about moving to Columbia, we loved the look of the townhouse drawings. We'd come from an urban environment and would have enjoyed that again. But they postponed building them, and we became Richland County suburbanites instead because we couldn't wait to move and didn't find what we wanted closer in.
In this economy, the new construction isn't likely to fill up quickly, but eventually I think they'll be a real asset to Columbia.
