I guess you could wrestle around with the definition of "ghetto", but if you ask me, yes, there is a ghetto. That general area of South Carolina has urban, rural, and suburban ghettos. Primarily black, but there are white ones as well.

Ask Tupac. Seriously though, which areas of the city are sketchy/questionable/ghetto/etc? Where are the pjs located?

Columbia doesn't have a single large area that would be considered a ghetto. There are some pockets of areas that are not the best, but in pretty much every part of town you can find a nice area. If you're trying to find a place to move to, tell us some things that interest you, a price range and whether you want to buy or rent.

If you know Charlotte then I'm looking for a neighborhood like Dilworth or Elizabeth. Under $400k for a 3-2 SFH. Thanks.

Where are the "pockets" of ghetto? Come on, someone has to know.

BTW waccamatt, you seem like a nice enough guy but you strike me as a little too "P.C." to give candid, useful answers on this thread.

Not really. There are housing projects and some sketchy neighborhoods but it's nothing major

No ghettos in Columbia, seriously. There are a couple of projects, but they don't look bad. This isn't Baltimore. It's a mid size town.
