Default Short Term Housing

We are coming to Columbia by the end of the week. I am beginning a teaching position this school year. Unfortunately, we have not sold our house here yet and need something temporary that is very affordable. Any suggestions on weekly suites / or other places in the Columbia area?

Again this is on teahcer's salary so we won't be able to stay at the hilton or anything like that. Thanks for your help!!!

There are a number of extended stay motels in the area - what part of town will you be working in?

That will be quite a drive from Irmo to Hopkins every day. There is a reasonably-priced extended stay place (Extended Stay America, I think) in I-77 at Forest Drive, which is 2 exits from the Garners Ferry Road exit off I-77. That is the exit you would take for Hopkins. There may be another one on Garners Ferry Road/Sumter Highway, but I don't know of one off the top of my head.

You won't have any 1 hour commutes in the Columbia area. I drive less than 10 minutes to work so I would be depressed with a 20 minute commute. Irmo to Hopkins would probably take 40 minutes depending on how far you will be from the interstate in Irmo and likewise in Hopkins. Columbia is blessed with 3 interstate highways and several other freeways.
