Was just in Sandhills and noticed stride rite is closing. Marble slab is closed. Heard east coast pizza is moving. Question: wouldn't management lower rent to keep/attract stores rather than have empty store fronts.
The large storefront from Kirkland's is still empty as well. Seems kid of stupid to keep losing stores. On the Killian Crossing front I really hope we get a Costco, Movie Theater and some new restaurants.
Starbucks and Mattress Firm are coming to Killian's Crossing next to McDonald's. Also, an official website is coming soon for the development at large.

Hoenstly how many more Mattress Firms are needed in Columbia because I don't think that many people are being mattresses. Don't they have about 12 stores in Columbia plus this one. There's 4 mattress firms serving the Forest Acres area and the direct area around it. I know this is killian but isn't there a store or two on Two Notch road already.
Starbucks was going inside of the Kroger Marketplace. Is that still on? I know it's not unprecedented for Starbucks to have an in-store location within shouting distance of a standalone.
As far as Mattress Firm, the insane markup at mattress stores, the inability to comparison shop, and really aggressive sales/marketing techniques mean a single location doesn't have to move many units to stay in the black. Another recently opened in the Publix plaza on Hard Scrabble a couple of miles away and I wouldn't be surprised if another one or two opened up in Killian's Crossing before it's all said and done.

I know mattress firm has 3 stores within 1.5 miles of each other 378/sunset boulevard in Lexington. I just don't see a need for this many mattresses.
They need a stand alone Starbucks at Killian Crossing, as the one at the Village at Sandhills is always overcrowded. This is good news. Hopefully that will be a really large Starbucks.
There are Starbucks in Target and Krogers on Two Notch, which hasn't seemed to slow down the volume of business at the one at the Village at Sandhills. So, I am assuming that having one in the new Kroger location, in addition to having a stand alone store will be fine. I think that they need another "Drip" location, either at the Village at Sandhills or Killian Crossing.

The mattress store on Two Notch near Sesqui had a going out of business sign on it last time I drove past. It does seem strange that there are so many mattress stores in a small area though.
