I just got a response from my best Washington, DC friend after sending him the latest photos I posted on here. We were real tight when I lived there. Still are. He lives in Northwest DC. He has lived there for 30 years now. He has been all over the world many times. He and his partner got married in January and took a tour of England for their honeymoon. He's been my urban buddy since 1979. He visited me here in 1984. We're always sharing articles about cities and photos of them. His emails are one-liners - always. His response on my latest Columbia pics was "looks very urban." Nuf sed.

In Charlotte they're mostly unnoticeable because the buildings are tall. As a former resident of the city, trust me, they have their fair share of standalone garages also. The newer ones do at least have interesting architectural details though.

Columbia does not get a circus for a few more weeks, but they've already had two circus trains pass through town this month. Yesterday, I caught the "red" train passing over I-77 near Blythewood travelling from Charleston to Cincinatti, Oh.

Last week I caught it heading to Charleston coming through Ridgeway after dark.

CanalSide apartments

* Does anyone know what in the heck Flickr has done to make it so hard to upload photos onto here? I had it down and now something is different. I can't figure it out.

Well, flickr has changed something and I can no longer upload photographs on here from there. I googled it and there's an issue with an imbed feature vs. HTML. I can't figure it out.
