tmiracle is on a distinguished road
I too, am relocating but to DC area from Columbia SC and I'm putting my house up for rent. It's located in a wonderful Golf Course community not far from Lake Carolina - it's in Wildewood. You can go to "militarybyowner.com" and see it listed for rent. When we moved here two years ago we looked at homes in Lake Carolina and for us - it's too congested and the traffic was ridiculous. I would recommend you rent for awhile and take your time looking for the right house. Everyone looks in Lake Carolina but there are so many other great subdivisions that offer much more.

Why does the title of your thread say that you "may be relocating to Columbia" when your first post says you are relocating from Columbia to DC? Just curious.
