Default Questions about Lexington

My husband has taken a job in the city of Orangeburg. We have four children in elementary school so school systems are very important to us. In my search for school systems I keep comming up with Lexington 1. Is this true? Do they have a great school system? I heard things are starting to crowd up a bit. Does that interfere with student care? Is Lake Murray a nice recreation area..gators, fishing, waterskiing, jet skiing etc... Does anyone know if and where there are neighborhoods with young families, sidewalks nice people etc. Is housing still affordable in these areas? Are the roadways crowded. I know, a lot of questions. But it is such a big decision when you have children. My husband is willing to commute if it is worth it.....is it???
If anyone has any information our family would be so thankful.

Default Lexington

My family and I moved to Lexington last august from Birmingham, Alabama. I travel the state for a national bank and can tell you that you will be much happier in Lexington and commuting than living in Orangeburg.

Our children are in Lexington 1 and it consistently ranks at the top. We had our pick of the entire state and chose lexington. Traffic is much worse in the NE of columbia, yet being in lexington offers so much. The lake, close to 1-26 for charleston trips, close to 1-77 for charlotte trips, close to the beach, etc.

Lexington has a small town feel, there are a couple of pockets of traffic, but nothing like Birmingham, alabama.

Overall, we are very happy. I would be happy to answer any specific questions that you have.
