I am moving down there as well and just found a home in Elgin that backs up to a "pond" (really quite large!) for just under $200. No neighbors in front or back and the ones on the sides aren't RIGHT on top of you. Its a culdesac and has just over a 1/2 acre lot. I heard the schools are very good and since we are in Kershaw county the taxes are good as well. Just sharing the info I had received. Its a striaght shot down i20 so getting anywhere is pretty easy. If anyone has anything to ad its appreciated. I just wanted to give you an idea of price if you wanted a "subdivision" that is still a little country. Oh yeah, and the house has a "walk in" basement which is just for storage, 2 car, 2600 sq ft and built in the last 5 years.

I've had several clients from the Chicago area that came here and have enjoyed it. There are plenty of good school districts to pick from so I wouldn't zero in on any particular neighborhood such as Lake Carolina. Figure out where you'll be working, what commute you want, and then once you have a part of town you like then start looking at specific homes/neighborhoods. If you need someone to show you around let me know. It's a free service we offer and I'm approved by most all the relo companies.

Brandon was a great help to my wife and I during our relocation process as well as eventual build/buy and is highly recommended. The extra insight was quite useful as we toured areas to narrow down our spots to live in.
