Smile Moving to Columbia, Looking to Buy a House, What do you think about the community JACOB'S CREEK?

My Husband and I are moving to Columbia. We have a 1 Year Old. We Need to Be somewhat Close to Fort Jackson. We were looking into the Homes at Jacob's Creek, but I want to know about the Area... is it safe, nice, a good place to raise a family. If jacob's Creek isnt the best place... give me some pointers on New Developments in the $160 average price range of homes that are in NICE SAFE areas. THANK YOU SO MUCH

Also check out Lexington, I think Ft. Jackson is about 20 min. away and they have great schools, just get in the 29072 zip code 29073 is more "out there". Also the quality of a ten yr. home may be better than a new one. Thats what I found out when I moved here 4 months ago.

Most anything around here in the 160's is going to be a good area. Jacob's Creek is a good development. Depending on your idea of close, I imagine you'd rather be in the 29229 or 29223 zip codes. You can look at the websites: Beazer.com, Mungo.com, shumakerhomes.com, gshomes.gs/Home/index.cfm for some of the larger builders in that area.

If you are looking some specific new construction subdivisions you may want to look at are Willow Tree, Jasmine Place, The Villages of Lakeshore, Myers Creek, Brookhaven, Lake Carolina, Lake Frances (W.Columbia but close to interstate so short drive to the fort-smaller version of Lake Carolina and much newer).

If you are military, look into the USAA Mover's Adv. program. You may be able to get a rebate when you purchase your home and VA loans have great interest rates right now.
