We've been getting to the All Local Farmer's Market on Whaley around 9 a.m. Saturdays and it seems to be going full throttle at that hour.

We've been meaning to go to the one on 321 but haven't had a chance. The nearest one to us is on Clemson Rd across from Sandhills. It's not very big and the prices aren't that good.

The big new farmer's market that was going to move to Rosewood is now going to move to downtown. I don't know where downtown, but that's what several articles have said since the Rosewood deal fell through.

An article in The State covers Columbia's two downtown-area year-round farmers' markets and mentions seasonal markets in other neighborhoods.

COLUMBIA, SC - Downtown Columbia now sports 2 farmers markets - Local / Metro - TheState.com

I was looking at some DEHEC reports about obesity and noticed that Columbia was listed as having 21 farmers markets. Is that correct? The city's obesity rates are on average for SC but, the number of fast food restaurants in Richland is materially lower than the other large counties. Looks like Columbia is moving more towards local options.

The Cayce Farmers Market on Charleston Hwy is excellent and still run by a local family!
