Default retiring in columbia
looking to retire in downtown columbia near the university. is this reasonable or is crime homelessness etc likely to make this a mistake.

It depends exactly where in downtown you're looking to retire. There are some pretty nice neighborhoods in downtown (Arsenal Hill, Elmwood Park, Wheeler Hill), and there are several residential developments under construction and planned. There is a homeless problem downtown, but this is confined to a few locales (mostly along Main, Assembly) and not in the traditional neighborhoods or in the downtown Vista district.
