Usually less expensive airfares out of Charlotte.

There is a shuttle from your door to Charlotte airport and return to your door for $100.00.

I'd rather fly out of Columbia - unless I'm saving over $250 I'm not going to the hassle of driving to Charlotte. Unless you're flying last minute the fare difference isn't much.

if it's just me flying, and esp for work, i'll fly out of CAE. But when it's the both of us, or when we're flying our daughter/hubby down by us, unfortunately it usually works out to use CLT even after taking into account mileage, time, etc....

I'm sure it all boils down to where one is going, if i'm flying back home then going from here to Madison can end up quite high since both are just regional airports. The cheapest for us in the past year was actually flying Charlotte to Milwaukee, both 1.5 hours drive from our home and final destination. But even with that driving it was noticeably better.

Of course i tried flying one time CLT to the Twin Cities and about crapped when i saw the ticket prices.....

Charlotte's airport is an hour from my house, and Columbia's is half an hour away with fares often twice as much. For me, Columbia's airport is absolutely worthless.

I just did some checking on an upcoming trip in November and I stumbled going via Augusta (AGS) airport. Quite a savings also.

How convenient is AGS off of I20?

Sorry, but:

I just spent a few days comparing CAE and CLT to Nashville in early November, over a weekend. Close to $200 cheaper from CLT. For that I will do CAE for my convenience.

Paying for two coming from Boston in early Dec. $162 each via CLT. $340 each to CAE so $324 versus $680 thus a $356 savings. For that I will do CLT for my wallet.....LOL

Merge off I-20 east onto I-520/Bobby Jones east, and it's a straight shot to the airport..

Typically I fly to NYC, DC or Chicago and fares aren't that much different. Occasionally it's worth going to CLT, but I'm a 15 minute drive from CAE vs. 1 1/2 hours to CLT. It takes a lot of savings to make up for that.

Bottom line: If you want consistently lower fares at CAE, fly out of CAE. It's supply and demand, stupid. The airlines have said so. Duh.

and when the price is right for what is supplied, then my demand will go up.
