The rental price really depends on area, but you should be able to find homes from 700 up. For an average home in Columbia with 3-4 BR you can expect $900-1200 but maybe could find one a little less and definitely could find higher if that's what you want.

I live in Blythewood, just 15 minutes or so from Columbia, its a quiet town with excellent schools. I live in a new subdivision and we do have homes for rent, not sure of the price, but I could find out. NOrtheast Columbia area is really nice, its a growing area, good schools, shopping. Do you have any specific questions. I will try to be as diplomatic as possible, I myself am not that happy here and looking to move in the future. I must say it is a nice place to raise kids.

Lake Carolina is really nice, we kick ourselves for not buying in there...everyone knows if you live in Lake Carolina its a nice place! Blythewood is a very nice, very small town.....nice people and a very nice place to raise a family. Downtown COlumbia is small and some nice spots, the vista etc... but does not offer alot to do. People here are friendly, sometimes to friendly, it took some time to get used to. I guess I just have not felt as if I have fit in here since we have moved here. A granola wearing birkenstocks in BLythewood sticks out! I knew moving here that is was temporary so in all honesty I have allowed myself not to like it here. Do you have any specific questions, I will be happy to answer any that I can for you.

The YMCA is not completed quite yet.....I think it should offer everything....lots for kids if you have any...and the prices seem reasonable. THere is a place called ANthonys pizza not far from LC that is good...on CLemson Rd by the Food Lion.
I am from Northern Florida, but moved up here from Ft Myers, FL. WHen we move this time it will be heading north...midwest.

A granola wearing Birkenstocks would fit in Rosewood, Shandon or Earlewood much better, definitely not in a suburb.

I'm not trying to come off mean but....sure Columbia's downtown is small when compared to larger cities....but having been to the Cape Coral/Ft. Myers area in florida before, i know you can't be comparing the 2 cities. That's an Apple to Orange comparison right there. And to say that it doesn't offer much has me confused.....I'm going to assume that you mean for your taste....because i havea nice time at the museums in the area. I like to go to Granby Park and walk the river and even go onto the rocks on the river. I mean Columbia's no coastal Florida paradise [considering it's located in the central part of the state], but it's growing and you'd be amazed when being downtown finding nice places to eat and new things to do. And within the area you will find enough to keep you entertained.....if not...make use of Columbia's most convenent amenity....the interstate...
