Do you think people have any legit complaints about the government? Are politicians, people in power, generally good and/or being responsible?

Why shouldn't people be angry at DC.

The economy has been in the tank for last 5 years.

I don't remember Democrats going easy on Bush when he was in power ie so much animus being directed at the federal government during those years..

You missed my point entirely.

I think the anti-GUBment mindset of the typical South Carolinian is stronger than the anti-government mindset of the typical American.

I lived in DC for five years in the early '80's, and the federal government isn't DC, just like SC state government isn't Columbia. While neither city would exist as we know them today without their respective roles in government, the people who make up the cities the idiots meet in to make their rules or get nothing worthwhile done, and the cities themselves, are separate from the gridlock and idiocy.

These days, I'm not so sure about that.

I don't think anybody is anti-government. Some people are for smaller government. A smaller minority of people every year, it seems. LOL

I don't like to bend the knee to politicians in general though.

That's beside the point. Astute people don't hate a city just because it's a seat of government.

I think South Carolinians still hold a considerable edge over Americans in general in the anti-government arena.
