"At a time when an influx of student housing developments are flooding the downtown market, this one’s for the grownups, the developers said, catering especially to young professionals wanting to live and work in the city center." - excerpt from The State's article

Good to hear.

I agree. Bodies in downtown is good but more mature, money spenders are better then the 18 year olders doing the walk of shame.

The 18-year-olds have to live on campus. The private apartments for students will attract older undergrads and graduate students.

I agree; this sounds like it will be an incredible redevelopment. Downtown Columbia residential is on fire!

Keep in mind that parents, other family members and friends come to visit and stay in hotels, too.

True, but the parents will need to stay/spend almost no matter where the "kids" live. This is good.

Believe me I am all in favor of bodies downtown. I just say it is better if the bodies are earners/spenders all the time, not just when the parents visit.

Most of them student bodies cannot even have a drink at the bar.....LOL
