Default Cross burning in Lexinton?

Ok please excuse this title but I am new to the South and in search of a home. We are currently renting in Forest Acres. I have inquired about Lexington and have been told by several people " do not move to lexington" "they burn crosses in yards". Is this the case for this community??

Thanks for the info, but are there very many blacks that live in lexington? And I don't mean some "run down part of town". I am in search of a nice friendly neighborhood. I don't need all the neighbors stopping over but I would like a generally friendly area.

Wow, make offensive statements much? Maybe you should have stayed in whatever narrow minded place you came from.

Hey M, sorry you found my question so offensive. This is a true statment that several coworkers have made in regards to lexington. This is not something "made up". My question is a sincere concern. It is because of not being "closed minded" that I posed this question.

newsouth? I wasn't referring to your cross burning question. I was talking about this ridiculous question you asked:

Columbiadata will become famous soon enoughColumbiadata will become famous soon enough
I visited someone in a huge, brand new housing subdivision off of Highway 6 and Platt Springs Road between Lexington and Pelion that from what I saw was about 50/50. It is just down the road from White Knoll High School in the fastest-growing census tract in the Columbia MSA last year.

The Forest Acres person is behind the times to have said that, but if you're looking for a high level of diversity along with zoning for excellent schools, your best bets are Dreher High in Columbia, A.C. Flora High in Forest Acres and part of Columbia, and Richland 2 schools in Northeast Richland County.

I think your friends were exagerrating. Lexington County isn't nearly as diverse as Richland County, but I don't think you'll have any problems there. Southern Lexington County has some pockets of areas you wouldn't want to live in, but the town of Lexington should be fine.
