Default Relocating from Atlanta to Columbia

We are relocating to Columbia from Atlanta. We are not sure where we want to live, but we don't want to be in an area that is congested and major traffic like Atlanta. Trying to get away from so much crime. Understand that crime is everywhere, but want to feel as safe as I possibly can where ever I am. Also seeking employment. Where do I start. I have worked mostly at Universities and have a Masters in Organizational Management and specialization in HR. We are moving by next month. We are hoping that we can find employment close to home. Please help. My daughter is also seeking employment. She works at CNN here in sports. Where should she look there? Thanks much. Also, we are looking for a home to lease for starters. If we move into an apartment. We would like one in a gated community.

I heard Irmo/St. Andrews area has lots of traffic. You have USC and WITV.com for possible places for employment for you and your daughter. There is a nice gated rental community in Pontiac (not sure the name though). You can check with Apartments for rent: Apartment Guide, your free apartment finder

I don't know...I read all the time how bad traffic is here in Irmo but the only time that's the case is from 8-8:45ish am and then from 4-6 pm during rush hour. I guess it's all relative but I grew up in a town with one stoplight and I don't think it's bad at all. No different than NE will be in a year or 2 and the same as coming out of downtown that time of day.

The traffic around Christmas...now that's another story. That traffic does suck.

Excellent, you should get to see the buzz around town for the USC-Florida game.

Woodcreek Farms is where Steve Spurrier lives...beautiful homes that start in the $500,000 range. They are in the Northeast. Also Lake Carolina is beautiful. Also in the Northeast...which is to me, the most up and coming area.
