Default Job move to Orangeburg

Currently my wife and I are considering moving to the Orangeburg area for her job.

I know nothing about South Carolina or Orangeburg. I have heard from others in her company that they do not recommend Orangeburg due to high volume of crime and it not being very clean.

I was wondering if someone had any suggestions on places to live close to Orangeburg other than the obvious Columbia or Charleston. We arent really small town folks.

Thanks for the help.

There are a few threads about Orangeburg in the main SC forum. Really, if you're more of a city person, Columbia or Charleston is as good as it's going to get, with Columbia being closer to the actual city of Orangeburg.

Sis has been commuting from St. Andrews area of Columbia to O-burg for over 30 years. You could live just outside the city of Columbia near any of the arteries that connect with I-26 and have a fairly easy commute while being close to a fair-sized city, major university, state capital, etc. Look to stay west of I-20/I-26 interchange to eliminate that traffic bottleneck. Not much between Charleston and Columbia OTHER THAN O-burg.

Didn't mean to say stay 'west' of 20/26...actually, it's south and toward O'burg(southeast) to avoid the bottleneck.
