Not necessarily in relation to the new proposed baseball stadium that may be coming to columbia if Savannah doesnt want to build a new one for sand gnats, but what city would you go with in relation to best Downtown, Shopping Districts, Eateries ect. And just overall city? And if you want, you can also chime in on New proposed baseball stadium from(Hardball Capital).

Savannah and Columbia have little in common. Metro Columbia is much bigger and Savannah is a tourist mecca while Columbia is a business, political, education and insurance center. There are few similarities to compare.

Do you mean in population? Let's see. Fort Jackson is part of the city of Columbia and is 52,000 acres. 52,000 acres = 81 square miles. Columbia in its entirety is about 134 square miles to Savannah's 103 square miles. Savannah has about 142,000 people to Columbia's 131,000. Not many people live on Fort Jackson and not much of it is taken up by housing. Forest Acres alone added to Columbia's population would make the two municipalities' population totals even. People outside the city limits are allowed to come to the games.

Just looked it up, your right columbus has a larger area per square mile. But i do think Savannah is more of a hipper city with more to do than columbia and has a much more vibrant downtown and i think most people would agree.

Columbia is vibrant, but its main focus right now is its potential. The State newspaper just posted an article saying in the past year the Vista announced $389.5 million in new investment, some of it nearing completion, some of it just underway and some of it planned. And that's just the Vista. A comparison between Columbia and Savannah seems strange anyway.

I don't know how long it's been since you've been here, but a friend of a friend is from Savannah and when I asked him what he thought of Columbia his word was "awesome." I wouldn't think he was comparing Columbia's vibe to Savannah's. Comparisons aren't necessary.

I was just kidding trying to get a reaction lol. I came on here for real reason. Im going to a 3 day district convention to be held in Columbia this year. They used to be held a long time ago in columbia. Lately they had them in Macon. Columbia was great! when i last went. My favorite city in South Carolina by the way. Charleston is great too but i give the edge to columbia. Conventions=More revenue.
