Any ideas why when I try and use their site links to send an Email to them, I cannot? The link sends me to AOL mail and I do use AOL.

Thanks

I had the same problem. I had already emailed a reporter once or twice before, so his email address was already in my email system. I emailed him yesterday and today with piece of my mind.

Not sure how you're trying to email, but the Email links they have on their story pages use a simple mailto: protocol. What this does is opens up your default email, whatever you set that as in your system settings seem like your is AOL, and will fill in the email address in the To field and then adds a link to the story in the body. So if you hover over the link you'll see something like mailto:allwiswebproducers@wistv.com?body=LinkToWha teverStoryYouAreReading.

So if you want to mimic what their links are doing, just open up whatever email you prefer and send an email to allwiswebproducers@wistv.com with a link to the story you're reading as the first thing in the body.

When I click "email" by the staff member or reporter's name it does not open up my default email system or any email system. It does nothing at all.

Interesting. I've tried a few different pages and ways to get to emails and every time I try one it opens up correctly in my default email. Are you at least seeing the mailto: text pop up in your browser's status bar at the bottom?

UPDATE

All seems well today. I could send the Email. Not sure it was an AOL or WIS issue.

It still doesn't work for me. Whether I click 'email' next to a story or if I click 'contact us,' click on 'WIS team,' click on the team member and click 'email (team member),' it still doesn't work. Maybe they got tired of hearing from me.
