Man, if Spirit raises my rates on my telecom service at work next time our contract's up...

In all seriousness, if it has to have a corporate name (and what stadium doesn't, now?) I'm glad it's someone local and not BB&T Field or something.

I don't think anything's worse than the name of Myrtle's ballpark: TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark Reviews, Myrtle Beach Pelicans | Stadium Journey

That falls right off the tongue, I don't know what you're talking about.

Lord knows there's enough of those in minor league ball right now. Both Charlotte and Winston-Salem's parks are BB&T Field. There's also three ballparks named for Fifth Third Bank (Fifth Third Field in Dayton, OH, Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park, MI, and Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva, IL) and two ballparks named for Coca-Cola (Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, NY and Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA). Ironically, the ballpark the Gwinnett Braves play in, the closest minor league park to Atlanta, GA, isn't named for Coca-Cola but for a local HVAC company.

As for stadiums lacking corporate names, you still see them, especially in the minors. A fairly non-scientific survey I just undertook shows of the 159 minor league parks (there's an odd number because two Florida State League teams share one park), 86 have non-corporate names while 73 have corporate names.

Ah that encapsulates the latest trend - selling naming rights to the playing surface while keeping the name of the stadium separate. For instance, historic Nat Bailey Park in Vancouver, BC is technically ScotiaBank Field at Nat Bailey Park.

A shot of the dome of the Babock Building from the building's better days. Its restoration will be a welcome aspect of Columbia Common's development.

Do you remember when it had a silver plated dome? They need to bring that back.

No, I don't remember that. They should bring back whatever was original. Was that silver?

Yes, that was the original; it was removed and replaced with the current cladding about 20 years ago or so.

Unfortunately, this link is in black and white.

This better shows the dome in silver:
